Press
Columbia College Literary Review on this series:

"Jamie Andrade, after competing for five years as a Boston Derby Dames skater, has hung up her skates and emerged with a new series featuring geometric shapes mixed with a graphic printmaking feel. Her series explores what lies beneath our perceptions of nature. In landscapes inspired by scientific journals and articles on data collection, the artist experiments with how little data the human eye needs to construct meaning. At what point does the brain begin to fill in the blanks and illustrate the remainder? The printed geometric shapes are reminiscent of an underlying matrix grid or fractals at a cellular level." - April Issue, 2015
Artist Statement

What lies beneath our perception of nature?

“Organic form stands in contrast to a mechanical form, a work which has been produced in accordance with artificial rules.”  1

Are there rules to creation?

“Fractals are infinitely complex patterns that are self-similar across different scales. They are created by repeating a simple process over and over in an ongoing feedback loop. Driven by recursion, fractals are images of dynamic systems..” 2

If universal rules prove true, then who makes these rules?

“Uncertainty Principle (1927) A principle, central to quantum mechanics, which states that two complementary parameters (such as position and momentum, energy and time, or angular momentum and angular displacement) cannot both be known to infinite accuracy; the more you know about one, the less you know about the other.” 3

What answers will be found by uncovering the truth?

“Trine: noun 1. A group of three; triad. 2. The trine astrological aspect of two celestial bodies.” 4
